Appearance - Pours a rusty copper with three fingers of frothy white head.
Smell - earthy, leafy, floral, light citrus, and piney hops, grapefruit and orange peel, pine resin, caramel, bready malts, and earthy yeast.
Taste - bold earthy, leafy, floral, light citrus, and piney hops upfront. The grapefruit and orange peel and pine resin follow suit. The caramel comes through kicking on the door with a vengeance to balance the hop bitterness out. The bready malts and earthy yeast rounds out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the hops and malts lingering.
Overall - A balanced DIPA that displays both elements very well with both hops and malts fighting with one another. I suppose that is where they came up with the name. A sessionable brew considering the ABV. For those that like a balanced DIPA, then this one is for you.

Old school IIPA with all the right aroma and flavor but not overly bitter. Would like a little more carbonation poured out of the can but otherwise this is a serious improvement on a traditional malt/hop bomb. Drinks easier than the ABV.

Had Villain poured from pint can, bottom stamped with illegible date, into nonic pint.
Pours murky orange-gold with a few floaties and 1- to 2-finger off-white head, with excellent retention, and leaving rings of lace. Orange, lemon, resinous and grassy aroma off the pour, with orange and resin dominating as warms. Begins with big carbonation and huge orange citrus, then major resin, all over a dry malt which if not obvious would definitely be missed if absent, before a resinous, crisp finish.
My first new "midwestern" American IPA in a while. Glad someone's still making (good) ones.

Pours a gorgeous, golden color. Fine two-finger foam head. Sweet candied citrus on the nose. Tropical fruit notes of orange and mango on the palate. Very smooth with a light malty and subtly bitter citrus peel finish that lingers.

First beer of the night and it's going to be a Whopper! Poured into a pint glass slowly yields a beautiful clear dark copper color with a half an inch of froth. Smells pretty good juicy hop presence good malts and no cloying ethanol notes. Not bad! The taste is very fruity not very bitter almost honey like sweetness mixed in with some good biscuit malt and a nice clean finish. ABV is dangerous if I were to guess this beer would be around 6 to 7% nice light to medium body definitely one of the better dipas I've had in awhile. Over all these guys really do know how to make a great high octane beer and if I were to find it again I would definitely get another pint!

Canned September 2016; drank 9/24/16 @ the Yarchives.
Cloudy orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a HUGE, noisy off-white head; strong, frothy lace.
Pine, honey & mango notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Grapefruit, pine & mild banana flavors up front; honey notes on the finish.
Not my DIPA profile at all; drinkable, but I've had my last.

16oz can, date stamped 4/11/19. Thanks to my friend, Ken, for giving me a can to try. A thick and frothy ivory colored head caps an opaque caramel colored ale. Aroma is muted, but has some bready caramel malt and earthy pine. Flavors are much more bold than the aroma with notes of bread crust, caramel, grapefruit, and pine resin. Full body, very resinous, moderate carbonation, bittersweet and semi-dry finish. Very good DIPA, as expected from 18th Street.
