Part of 18th Street's "In the Shadows" small batch series. IPA with mango and tons of oats added. Poured out of a 12 oz. can.
Pours a turbid, golden orange color with a finger of white head that went away quickly.
Aroma is dominated by the mango, but it does also bring lighter notes of sweet pineapple, tangerine, candied grapefruit, and some herbaceous dankness. Just a sugary sweetness, as well as some light breadiness coming from the malt.
Taste follows the aroma quite well. The mango is still definitely there. It's a very fleshy mango flavor, as well as a mango juice flavor. However, tangerine, grapefruit, and floral notes all show themselves as well. A sugary sweetness and light bready presence is there to balance out the fruit and hops.
Medium body. Smooth carbonation, slick, slightly creamy.
Judging on the appearance and juicy aroma and flavor, this is 18th Street's first attempt at the NE style. Not a bad first attempt. Needs some fine tuning, but this could be really good if adjusted properly.
