22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Had on 1/6/17.

Pours an opaque, dark brown, thick and oily looking, with a half inch, quickly dissipating head and some oily lacing. Looks good. Aromas of coffee, malt, cocoa, chocolate, raisins, some caramel, light molasses. The taste pretty much follows the nose. Stronger coffee, malt, cocoa, dark chocolate, some caramel, a little smoke, light molasses, a hint of vanilla. Very smooth, creamy, fairly full bodied, maybe a touch under carbonated.

The Dark Matter coffee is the star, providing a great aroma and very good flavor. Overall, it's a pretty straightforward example of the style, not overly complex. Enjoyable, but it was pricey for what you get.

Bottled December 2016; drank 5/7/17 @ the Yarchives.

Midnight black appearance.

A violent pour yielded a nice, noisy dark khaki head; frothy lace.

Fresh earth, dark chocolate, mild smoke & faint raspberry notes in the nose.

Thick, flat, sticky mouthfeel.

Dark chocolate, cream & fresh earth flavors up front; burnt caramel & faint raspberry notes on the finish. Faint pickle notes emerged as this warmed. No booze heat.

If Russian Imperial Stouts are meant to be unpleasant, this is brewed to style...it's interesting & massive, but not much fun to drink.

Had in tap at brewery for 3rd anniversary party. Also had from bottle.

Very strong coffee nose

Khaki head

Roasted malt, coffee, chocolate taste

A bit pricey for a non barrel aged stout.
Glad I got to have it and would gladly drink again. But wouldn't pay $25 for it with all the great options in craft beer now at lesser price points.

my very first 18th street, thanks sblickem!

beautifu label, says cocoa nibs and dark matter coffee, no abv listed. states to drink fresh, yes sir!

poured into a darkness tulip
looks fantastic! motor oil dark and thick, small cocoa colored head.

aroma is coffee upfront and center. an odd stale coffee smell faintly in the back, it sure what it is. slight barrel and vanilla at the end.

ok here goes. wow the flavor on this guy is fantastic. great coffee, nice roasted malts, some chocolate and finished with the barrel. it's very good

mouthfeel is great, nice and thick, good carb and no alcohol at all, pretty great. i'm surprised its 12%, well hidden

overall besides the strange nose on this one this is a solid ba coffee stout! flavor and body compete with bcbs easily. i've been waiting. to try this brewery, glad it was a good one to start with!

Appearance- On tap at the brewery, the beer was black mocha colored head.

Smell - Coffee and malts really come through in the nose.

Taste - The really bold and rich coffee set this one off. Deep chocolate lies in the background, giving a sense of balance. The coffee lingers nicely. The overall profile is not overly sweet but well-balanced.

Mouthfeel - The carbonation is muted which makes this one seem heavy.

Overall - I feel like $25 a bottle is a bit steep for a non barrel aged beer, unless there is something I do not know. Still it's the solid beer that I'm glad I got to try.
