Pours a black color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of strong cedar, sweet malt, slight chocolate, yeast, and slight earthy malt. Does not really fit a Rye Beer, but is instead a herbed/spiced beer that has rye in it as well. I'm going to rate is as such. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong cedar (distinctly not pine), sweet malt, earthy malt, chocolate, hint of hop, yeast, and slight roasted malt. Overall, good appearance, aroma, body, and blend.
