Turmeric Sour

i always love gabf time when some scratch beer comes into colorado for the festivities. this one was on tap for lunch at cedar creek pub yesterday, and it sure is an interesting one, brewed with lemongrass and what must be a considerable helping of fresh turmeric. the sour stuff has never been what impresses me most from these guys, but this is a pretty cool beer, heavy with natural turmeric, which in this context is earthy, with a little ginger type spice to it, an almost dirty taste, like actual, and a sweet vegetal thing like a good carrot, so peculiar in here, accentuated by the lemongrass which is way behind it, and very botanical and herbal and almost health tonic feeling overall. their house culture has never been my favorite, its a little bacterial heavy, iodine or something in there, and mature but in a weird way, which is all true here too, i like it, but its sharp, and i think this would be better as a clean saison or something with these ingredients, like the sourness doesnt really add anything to the beer, flavorful as it is, if that makes sense. either way, i love scratch beers and know i am always in for a palate adventure, which is absolutely the case here. they did a nice job capturing the essence of turmeric in a beer!
