This year we decided to combine sumac and strawberry into one powerhouse sour beer--what an incredible combination they made! We made a slightly smaller batch this year so that we could add more strawberries per barrel of beer and finished the boil with a healthy dose of sumac. The result is a bright, tart beer, brewed as always without hops; with the aroma of spring berries and a cherry pie-like finish.

Pours a very light amber with excellent clarity and a small, fizzy head. Aroma is very muted, and largely reminiscent of cheap wine. Maybe some apple notes, but nothing that I'd think of as strawberry or sumac. Taste is like a more lively apple juice. Maybe it's the sumac, but this absolutely reminds me of alcoholic apple juice. Light, lively and tasty but much different than I expected.

Exceptional, fruit-forward smell with a nice barn yard funk. Seaonally fall-ish.
Taste accompanies smell and does not disappoint. Mild toasty notes on the back end.
As well, I'm pleased with the way this beer feels. Sours are my favorite, but I prefer they not have that sour-pinch on the sides of the tongue. This is smooth and easy to drink with a very dry, wine-like profile.
My only negative is in appearance. Head dissipates very quickly, no retention. Overall the beer is hazy with a slight - very slight - pinkish hue. Very little glass lacing when held up and tilted from side to side.
Would I buy it again? Absolutely, and I would consider buying multiples to take a few through the aging process.

Initially has a 3” head of finely textured foam that fizzles away quickly to no head, skim, or lacing.
Magical aroma, fruity and herbal, “of the woods” much like their Single Tree series. Juicy strawberry and fresh sumac berries, some bark in there as well.
Tart and fruity, a unique combo that has an earthy, herbal, botanical edge from the sumac. Strawberry is tart and fresh, not sweet at all. Fully attenuated and dry, crisp with a light zesty feel. Ample carbonation, tiny bubbles. It has a nice depth to it, and unique character. Recommended!
