Bought this beer returning from a road trip to Texas in 2022, at a restaurant in St. Louis. Decided today is the day to give it a try.

A - Pours out as an opaque black body with subtle brown highlights. Tan head, short but persistent, with small bubble lacing.

S - The fig fruit and strong malt hit of dark bread mingle. The product is reminiscent of a Belgian Dark Strong, but smoother and less aggressive on the nose.

T - This is where this porter really differentiates itself, with bright chocolate, bread, and figgy dark fruit goodness mingling with some woodiness and juniper freshness running through the finish.

M - Decent carbonation showed in the pour, moderate weight, and clean but not particularly dry of the finish.

O - Such a surprising porter experience. I love the Scratch brews I've tried. I love porters, and this one delivers. Delicious.

When cold, a hint of juniper and fig against bold chocolatey roasty porter flavor. The juniper and fig flavor is subtle when cold. I wouldn't have been able to identify it as fig or juniper if I hadn't read the label. When it warms up, the fresh fig flavor is quite distinct, along with a bit of aftertaste of that bland, flat botanical flavor that you get when you soak herbs or fruit in vodka for too long. Easy drinking with a lighter mouthfeel as you'd expect from a beer under 7%. Just a solid beer with an interesting botanical aftertaste. Like nearly all Scratch beers, it's better than average. I'd definitely drink it again. (Gift from Daniel & Sam for my birthday)
