Malty lager brewed with grain from Sugar Creek Malt, Southern Illinois grown hops, and toasted sycamore bark. Sycamore bark lends the unique flavor of apple, cinnamon and toast.

Pours a murky burnt orange with a white ring. Dry forest with red apple, lemon zest, touch of smoke, phenols, and amber malts in the very unique nose. Taste brings out the woody and apple notes more, but everything else still there but now firmly supporting, the lager yeast makes a dramatic showing that is very complimentary, earthy. Feel is sharper than expected with wood and yeast shaping most. Have had nothing like it before, this is such fun!

This one pours a cloudy burnished copper color. A thin white head forms on the beer, lingers for a moment, then shrinks leaving a ring of foam along the outside of the top of the beer. Aroma is really unique - you get some notes of the toasted malt, Then yea, there is this spicy apple cinnamon note. But it's not like an apple pie - it's more like an apple-cinnamon liquer as there is the spiciness by also a slight alcohol note. There is a strong earthiness to the character.
Taste follows the nose with notes of grain, toasted malts, spicy cinnamon, some nutmeg and allspice with a touch of apple, some earthy wood notes giving way to an earthy slightly bitter finish. They call this a lager, but it is more farmhouse inspired than anything as you'd expect from Scratch. Feel is fuller bodied, sweet, and smooth. Moderate carbonation. Spicy finish.
Overall it's a really unique beer. I love how such a simple addition like toasted sycamore bark can bring so much to this brew. Another fun, unique beer from Scratch.

Amber orange tone, hazy and unfiltered, the eggshell foam never breaks and has a fine, creamy texture.
Aroma is malt forward and woodsy, with a mild malt sweetness. Hints of toasted apple cinnamon bread.
Very light woodsy notes, apple cider doughnuts, Soft and supple, finely textured, a mild bitterness in the finish balances the malt sweetness upfront. Paired nicely with an apple fritter, thanks to Bob’s 65th. Cheers to Bob!
