Third Pilot IPA from PHP. Not sure why they are called pilot ipas versus fallen cask now. I think it has to do with them opening a second location in the next couple months. Hops used are Mosaic, Simcoe, and Chinook.
L = An over riped orange. Mix of orange with amber highlights. Hazy, unfiltered look that comes with all PHP beers. Good half finger of head that is pure white. Vanished within a minute or two, but a swirl brought it back
S = Tropical fruit and a pungent afternote, close to cat piss that I associate with Chinook hops. Think of a tropical dancer's fruit basket hat after a night of shaking and sweating.
T = Juicy dankness comes through way more in taste versus smell. What you hope for that smoothie with all the tropical fruits in it to actually taste like. Citrusy and a touch of resin. Clean bitterness to finish it and pretty dry. Just fruit sweetness, none associated to the grains.
F = Medium bodied, doesn't linger too long but not crisp. Doesn't have the viscosity of stouts or DIPAs.
O = Great IPA. Super dank in smell and flavor, but a clean bitterness that almost cleanses the palate. It doesn't over power, but lingers for a second on your tongue. Tropical fruit is the dominant characteristic of this IPA.

Poured a hazy orange/amber color. Smell was immediate Simcoe and Chinook hops, Mosaic hops finished on the backend of the beer but only slightly for me. Taste was much of the same. Piney, resiny, dank with a bitterness that lingered and almost coated the tongue. I'm a bit fan of dank, piney IPAs and this one truly fit the bill, I hope they can incorporate it into the line-up more often.
