Appearance:
Pours a translucent, pale amber and proffers a svelte white head with willowy lacing.
Bouquet:
Semi-sweet malts and toasted wheat with hidden notes of demure pineapple hops.
Feel:
A medium body the coasts crisply and finishes with a buoyant cloud of buttery bubbles.
Taste:
Cream-of-wheat malts and tropical fruit hops that finish with an unexpected, tame sweetness. A pleasant surprise!
Overall:
Aging seemingly mellowed out the potent aspersion of pineapple other reviewers are experiencing. Reminiscent of Founder's Centennial IPA, which is equal parts malts and hops.
*Reviewer's Notes: Cellared for 3 years. Poured at 45 degrees Fahrenheit into snifter.

This was on sale at Downtown Crown so I decided to take a shot since I generally like Baltimore brewers but hadn't heard of this one before. Darker in color than is usual for an IPA, and incrementally maltier in the nose to match. Flavor is medium sweet malts against pineapple themed hops and they don't really work well together. Texture is heavy and hides the alcohol but also deadens any possible complexity. Not really on style for me, this is more like a boring American strong. In a world of IPA, this is not one to try more than once, or maybe even the once.

Finishing off a pint at Golden West in Baltimore's fun, funky Hampden neighborhood.
Pineapple! That's it. Been trying to figure out what the predominant flavor is and it finally hit me. Luckily, I love pineapple. Makes up for the fact that this is not a particularly hoppy or bitter brew, which is what I prefer ... and which the name certainly suggests. Just enough hops/bitterness to counteract the sweetness. Nothing special here, but definitely drinkable, especially if you like pineapple.

Transparent, pale amber body with a thick, fluffy cream-colored head. Aroma brings out some citrusy and piney hops with a dash of toasted malts. Flavor is much of the same, toasted malts and a dash of hops come through. Pretty balanced. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, slightly creamy. Way better than the pale ale, a pretty decent IPA.
