12 FL. OZ. can
Served in a MadTree becker glass

This beer pours a hazy golden color with an inch of white head that leaves little trace of ever existing.

It has a light aroma of hops and malt with subtle strawberry.

It begins with a mild citrus flavor. Then I get some grain through the middle. The strawberry is very subtle in the finish.

Medium mouthfeel

If it has a little more strawberry I think it would be better.

A solid blonde ale. Even without the strawberry finish, this would be a good beer. The subtle fruit that follows the initial malt bill complements each other nicely.

Pours a hazy dark yellow with a frothy white head. Smell is citrus and hop with some subtle yeast notes. Taste is hop up front, and some citrus comes through, a very crisp and clean taste, nothing very powerful. The aftertaste is faint strawberry, with more hop and a bit of some malt. A refreshing beer, advertised with strawberry but shouldn't scare anyone who doesn't like fruit beers. Much more of a crisp hopped beer. Very tasty, smooth and light bodied, a refreshing beer. Overall, a very easy drinking beer, great flavor, very sessionable, I would recommend it.

Poured from a can into a Madtree glass. The pour is pale gold, slightly cloudy, and sports about a finger of rocky white head with average retention. Very mild nose with hints of malt and lemony hops.

Light body with a mild, yet balanced flavor. Fairly firm feel, but the carbonation seems a bit low. A little bit of grainy sweetness up front, then some mild tartness and a hint of hops. It has an odd tea and lemon character to it that I wasn't expecting. Refreshing, but not something I would buy again. Not a bad example of what many consider to be a boring style.

With the heat of summer beckoning, the thirst for lighter, crisper and more refreshing beer does also. But that doesn't mean that we have to hang up our tastebuds until fuller flavor beers come back round. Mad Tree offers an American blonde ale that's surprisingly complex and still quenches the thirst.

Sol Drifter pours with the expected hazy straw aesthetics, topped with a dainty white froth. A quick pass of the nose brings a bready-sweet scent with citrus, berry and herb. The blend of bready pilsner malt and a kiss of wheat bring a grainy-sweet taste to the tongue that's suggestive of cookie dough and faint, floral honey.

As the taste develops, the middle palate brings a host of fruitiness as the malt sweetness begins to relax. Lemon, lime, melon, kiwi and tangy red berries bounce off the tongue via the beer's expressive carbonation. Trailing with bright orange peel and the bitterness of grapefruit, the beer's American hop character shows.

Medium-light in body, the beer's creamy texture gives a roundness to the palate and balances the fruit and mild bittering power. Highly refreshing and drinkable, the beer easily quenches the thirst even as it trails with an afterglow of wheat and berry.

Poured from a can to a perfect pint.

3.5 A: Hazy medium orange color. Two fingers of foamy beige head. Retention is about average and a few wisps of lacing are left.

3.25 S: Floral and piney hops to start with citrusy orange and lemon on the back end. Just a whiff of strawberry. Bready yeastiness with woody notes. Doughy malts.

3.5 T: Like the nose, lots of doughy and yeasty notes. Strawberry is a bit more pronounced, but still gets lost amidst light citrusy and floral hops. Wood, grapefruit, and pine to finish it off. Mild-moderate bitterness.

3.5 M: Solidly medium body. Good moderate carbonation. A tad bit chewy, but super smooth.

3.5 D: Solid summer brew. I would have liked to see more out of the strawberries, but it's good nonetheless.
