I've been kind of lukewarm on Madtree, but lately I've heard some better things said about them. I decided to try this because it seemed very inventive.
It pours looking like a great kolsch. Cloudy and fizzy and pale yellow. The aroma is subdued and a little unusual but not funky. The taste is like a weak kolsch with odd adjuncts - slight fruity overtones. The aftertaste is definitely going the direction of the name - a creamsicle. I don't really like creamsicles, so no wonder the brew version isn't a huge hit for me.
Not recommended unless you want a novelty.

12 FL. OZ. can
Served in a MadTree becker glass
This beer pours a hazy, yellow color. It is topped with an inch of creamy, white head that leaves little lacing.
The orange and vanilla come through nicely in the aroma.
It is not as sweet as I expected. I get orange juice and beer with hints of vanilla through the middle and into the finish.
Medium mouthfeel
I could see myself drinking this on the patio at MadTree on a Sunday, summer morning.

12 ounce can, canned on 09.15.2017. Served in a MadTree pint glass, the beer pours a hazy light gold color with about an inch and a half white head that stuck around a while. There's also a good amount of lacing. The brew smells like orange juice, orange peel, vanilla, cream and bready/grainy malt. Taste is similar to the aroma for the most part, but there's also a bit of lemon noticeable. It's not as sweet as I expected it to be, so if you're expecting an overly sweet orange creamsicle flavor you might be a bit disappointed. But there's still enough orange and vanilla in this brew to make it nice and tasty. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's a bit coating and creamy and is easy enough to drink. Moderate carbonation. I thought this was a nice brew, although I wish I would have tried this one fresher (the can was a gift from a buddy). Worth picking up if you see a can or two!

Sherbet, push ups, gelato, pastries and IPA. This is the stuff of dreams... craft beer dreams. And the MadTree imaginations are bringing a taste of fruit infused kolsch-style beer to a daydream near you.
Pale gold and cast in a hazy orange tinted glow. Its radiant orange aromas carry its citrusy brightness into a candied scent of gumdrop, pulled candy and citronella. Its taste is much more supple than that though. Its crisp breadiness is wafter-like with a hint of cereal, orange blossom and freshly baked bread.
As the hybrid type beer nestles on the tongue, its radiant tangerine character links up with soothing vanilla, cream and a sherbet-like tanginess. Vivid and seeming branch ripened, the fruit impression rests gently on the floral hop character and its light spicy and grassy finish. Again, dry grains bring a cereal quality to taste that's friendly and light.
Medium light in body, the beer's dry cracker-like texture gives a high rate of refreshment and a great sense of drinkability which is a far departure from the fear of an ale of sweetness, creaminess or weight. It's a nuanced beer that's ideal for beating the dog days of late summer.

Ale brewed with vanilla beans and orange peel with orange juice added. Poured from a can into a MadTree glass. The beer is very light in color, practically straw, and sports about a finger of rocky white head. I get some nice malty notes on the nose. Toasted malt, toffee, fresh bread, and a little grape.
Light body with a delicate feel and a mild, balanced flavor. Fresh toast up front with lemon curd, then mild hop and vanilla flavors at mid-palate. The flavor kind of dies out on the back of the palate and there isn't much of a finish to speak of.
A refreshing beer with a mild, yet pleasant flavor. Not really what I look for in a craft beer, but I'm sure some folks who aren't used to intense flavors will find this enjoyable.
