My 1st experience with the Denali hop. The smell is amazing- fruity, but not in the citrusy way; more like candied pineapple. It looks thick in the glass, much like the rest of the High series beers. Big, sticky head that leaves lace on each sip. This tastes much different than it smells- the candied pineapple is still present, but it's behind the taste of bitter and umami. Kind of like a SN Torpedo with a candied pineapple twist.
A real nice beer for sure and an interesting hop. I'm glad my first sample of Denali hops was a part of Madtree's High series. Definitely can't go wrong, but I think Denali needs a dancing partner. Topaz hops maybe?
