Collaboration with Short's Brewing Company

OH is a gin-inspired specialty ale with lemon peel, juniper berry, hibiscus, and coriander with raspberry and peach added, best layered with MI from Short’s Brewing Company. Hazy with a pink hue, OH has a very fruit-forward aroma of berries with a hint of citrus. Leading flavors of lemon blend with the hibiscus and a blast of raspberry before hints of juniper join the mix. This beer finishes fairly dry with a slight bitterness and acts as the top layer for the Bonsai Project

Very clean, crisp, interesting beer that's from a style that's new to me. Pours a pink-orange clear color with some minimal lingering white head and spotty lacing. Smells of some fruity citrus, tea, a little malt and floral hops. Tastes similarly, with a good mild amount of tartness that's well balanced by the initial sweetness and later dry finish. Smooth, thin, mild mouthfeel and decent carbonation. Was very easy to drink, quite refreshing and I will definitely look for other beers in this style.

12 FL OZ can
Served in a nonic pint glass

This beer pours a rosy, orangish rust color. It is very hazy. It is topped with a couple inches of off white head that leaves little lacing.

It has a floral, fruity aroma. I get some raspberry and coriander.

The flavor is fruity. I can taste the peach, raspberry, and coriander with a juniper finish.

Medium bodied with effervescent mouthfeel

I like this better than the companion beer. It is fruity and light. It would be a good summer beer.

A - Orange body with a light tinge of pink, hazy, with a fluffy whiteish head, and moderate lacing.

S - Pungent fruit, stone and funky berry notes, and a bit of tea.

T - The peach and raspberry are forward, the middle introduces a moderate sweet malty aspect, and finish is more tart.

M - Decent carbonation and just a bit of stickiness, fading in the close.

O - First, this is best when mixed with its pair. Then it forms a clean robust delicious whole. This is the better one straight, with great fruit notes and a pretty satisfying experience overall.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 11/7/2018. Pours moderately hazy reddish/pinkish orange color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lightly tart/tangy raspberry, peach, fruit skin/seed, lemon peel, juniper, spruce, strawberry, cranberry, hibiscus, coriander, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruit, spices, and pale/wheat malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart/tangy raspberry, peach, fruit skin/seed, lemon peel, juniper, spruce, strawberry, cranberry, hibiscus, coriander, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, grassy, citrus peel bitterness; coriander, juniper spiciness; and slight fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of raspberry, peach, fruit skin/seed, lemon peel, juniper, spruce, strawberry, cranberry, hibiscus, coriander, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruit, spices, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and no astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, fairly crisp, and slightly acidic/tangy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.6%. Overall this is a very good fruited/spiced blonde ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruit, spices, and pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish. A little more bitter/spicy than expected, but well made style example. Very well balanced fruit, spices, and pale/wheat malts; with minimal residual sweetness from crisp dryness. A very enjoyable and unique offering.

Poured from can to snifter. Color is pinkish red , hazy, with a finger of pink-tinged foam. Nice carbonation. Aromas of raspberry. Flavor is more raspberries, followed by citrus and hibiscus. The juniper adds a little bit of a gin-like finish. Feel is weird.

The OH MI layering is marginally worse. Raspberry and peach notes almost but not quite overtake MIs tonic and black licorice. The feel is odd, chalky. 3.4 for the OH MI layering.
