An original fan favorite, Knotty Brown is back in cans for the first time in over three years. The name is modified, but it has the same flavors of roasty chocolate, brown sugar, and vanilla. It's good to see a familiar face.

I bought a 6pck of this beer from my local meijer store. It poured a deep clear mahogany with off white head that left some lacing. The scent had rich sweet malt notes the taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with malt sweet bread base. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

Poured this beer into a frosty mug.
Hazy brown color with Some lacing remaining till the end.
Smell is nice and malty with some alcohol.
Taste begins with malts with lots of hops at the finish. I don't notice the 7 percent alcohol, however, I would like more malts with a brown ale.
This beer feels slightly creamy with significant carbonation. A very good beer.

Canned on 10/24/19. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy murky brown with mahogany and auburn hues; nice khaki head that falls leaving nice bubbly retention and sticky lacing. The aromas have some hints of coffee and cocoa and caramel. Some dark fruits. Lots of malts. The flavors basically follow the nose. More hints of coffee. More cocoa and chocolate. More caramel along with some toffee. The brown sugar comes through. This one is bittersweet. Malts do their thing. Alcohol basically goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with moderate to active carbonation. It's sharp, fluffy, smooth and easy to drink.
This is a pretty solid brown ale. It almost comes off as a "coffee brown ale", although there's no mention of coffee being used. The brown sugar gives this one some depth. It's slightly unique compared to your average brown ale. The craftsmanship is on point. Not bad at all.

Part brown ale and part IPA, MadTree dives into an Americanized taste of the original British styled ale with the help of high hopping rates and a drier, crisper finish.
Pouring a bark-like hazy brown appearance, Knotty Brown billows to the rim with a slight tarnish froth. Teeming with citrus peels, sawdust and peppery resins, the nose tingles with hops that are laid across a toastier, coffee-like scent. But its taste starts of moderately sweet with hints of caramel, chocolate and nuttiness as its malt influences make first impressions in taste.
But that balance quickly shifts from the malts and onto the hops as the dark ale races across the middle palate. As its sweetness turns to a toastier, peppery and woodsy taste, the hops begin to pop with the sharpness of orange peels, grapefruit peels and then an acute resinous bitterness that resembles freshly torn pine needles and a sappy spice that lingers long on the after palate.
Medium bodied but on a quickly drying track, the beer eventually closes with a coffee and cocoa-like tone that's still wrapped in fruit piths and pine while the dryness of alcohol and the hop resins are brought to life by the effervescence that keeps the ale on the refreshing and dry side despite its savory aspirations.
