Purchased as a single can from Kroger for $1.89. Poured into a nonic pint glass.
L - Hazy goldenrod with a luscious three-finger seashell head that seems to hold its place.
S - Classic American IPA scent. The usual suspects are there - grapefruit, pine, passion fruit. Some spicy, almost white pepper notes back everything up. Unfortunately, no malt detectable.
T - Pleasantly surprised! Honey and orange are at the front of it all, quickly followed by grapefruit and papaya. Very floral, with certain stone fruit vibes, and a nice layer of lightly browned toast at the finish. Constantly evolving citron, with a bouquet of tea throughout.
F - Light carbonation. Almost creamy. While refreshing, I wouldn't drink more than two in a sitting.
O - Very well-done IPA. Smell approaches you as yet another hop-bomb, but every aspect afterwards is one happy ending after another. The labeling doesn't do it justice - the beer was almost unnoticed on the fridge shelf at Kroger. Or maybe that's a good thing - a sort of hole-in-the-wall beer. A diamond in the rough. I will definitely buy this again. If you have the privilege of coming across this beer, buy it. It will NOT disappoint!

Hmmmm .... Not the best effort from the peeps at MadTree ... They rarely miss, and I realize this is a "session" beer ... It is, in fact, very "light"..... Probably decent on a hot day after mowing the lawn ... Certainly has refreshing qualities...just not my bag and I think there are better sessions out there...

Light, crisp, refreshing... the era of low gravity is here. But the insistence on lighter beer doesn't mean that lower flavor levels are acceptable either. Madtree brewers take on the challenge with a lemon and orange accented IPA that's worth rambling on about.
Pouring a light golden hue, the fine and hazy Ramble On builds a light and arid froth that teases the nose with an acute citronella and herbal scent. Light in sweetness, a wafer thin maltiness is mild with notions of honeysuckle and bread crust greets the tastebuds first.
The roles are reversed on the middle palate as the light malt flavors dissolve effortlessly on the tongue. A nearly lemon and lime hoppiness rolls in with a sharper citrus bite. Dried orange peel, light grapefruit and the juiciness of honeydew round out the fruity hop display before a bitterness of dried grass, hemp and spruce decorate the late palate.
Light, crisp and drying beautifully on the finish, the militant carbonation highlights the hop spices and brings a botanical gin flavor into a medium length aftertaste of tea, pepper and herb.
