The Local Blend porter base was built as a platform to let coffee shine. The base beer brings light chocolate notes, very subtle roast, and enough sweetness from the lactose to balance everything out. After fermentation is complete we split the batch into four smaller batches. This ensures that the base beer is 100% the same and the only difference is the coffee used. For each one we performed a 20 hour cold extraction using whole beans. This process helps to reduce any astringency that could potentially come from the coffee. In the finished beers the coffee steals the show. Each beer is certainly unique and it's fun to see how the different coffees play into the overall flavor profile of the beer.
Local Blend Cincinnati - Deeper Roots Coffee is Anacleto Tomas Matias from Guatemala. This coffee presents notes of cinnamon and sweet chocolate with a smooth finish in the beer.

So it seems the concept is a base porter that then gets a slightly different coffee flavor based on its namesake. OK, I don't get why, necessarily. I have just this one Cin version.
It pours a real nice brown with great lacing. The aroma is sweet plus a bit of coffee. The taste is nicely balanced and not overly flavored - just right.
Recommended. I wouldn't mind trying the other three,

My favorite of the 4 Local Blends. Classic dark look foamy tan head. I got a hint of chocolate followed by a smooth coffee aroma. Taste follows aroma, just a tinge of bitterness to round of the taste. Would purchase again.

I got a mixed 4pck of this beer from my local Giant Eagle store. It poured an opaque dark with off white ring head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had wonderful coffee and mocha notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with very nice coffee base and hints roast and mocha. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.
