A celebration of Cincinnati's brewing heritage, German roots and annual Bockfest festival, Gutenbock is a traditional doppelbock lager. With notes of caramel, bread and a hint of chocolate to balance things out, some say it's simply the G.O.A.T.

Pours a clear copper color with a sudsy tan head that provides significant lacing.
The nose features caramel, bread, and a hint of chocolate, and that’s where the taste lands.
The mouthfeel is full and edges toward creamy. An excellent doppelbock.

12oz can. Bottom stamp reads 'FRESHEST BY 06.16.25 12.18.2024'.
Clear, amber-brown colored body. Thin light tan head with the pour, and this results in an island and a thin ring. No lacing.
Aroma of dark bread, caramel, and a little chocolate.
Taste is rich and sweet with flavors of caramel drenched raisins, brown sugar, dark bread, and more than a hint of chocolate. The rich swirl continues into the extended aftertaste.
More than medium mouthfeel, with a bit of stickiness. Low bitterness. Smooth and coating. Good carbonation.
Very malt driven with sweetness, dark fruit, and chocolate - presents as a winning combination.

12 ounce can, canned 01.13.2023, thanks to Brutaltruth for this brew! Served in a dimpled mug, the beer pours a somewhat clear reddish/brown color with about an inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. The brew smells like toasted malt, dark bread, caramel and some chocolate. Taste pretty much follows the aroma but there's also some earthy hops noticeable too, and definitely leans maltier tasting. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick and easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this one, worth picking up if you're able to!

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This solid little bock pours a dark
red tinged brown with a fantastic head of khaki foam that settles to a
thick ring, thin dusty layer, and sports some nice light lacing. Nose of toasted
malts, brown sugars, dark breaded malts, and coffee hints. Flavors
surpass the nose with dark breaded malts, coffee, dark chocolate hints,
a dash of dark fruits, brown sugars, and subtle herbal hop notes. Mouth feel
is medium, light carbonation, smooth, and finishing moderately sweet
with some nice balance.
Overall, a solid little brew!
Cheers

L-dark brown with cherry wood highlights...nice clean clarity
S-Rich maltiness....dark fruits(plums, red grapes), a bit boozy....hints of chocolate...
T-A bit more chocolate on the flavor....lighter impressions of dark fruits and caramel bread
L-Low carbonation...no head on the pour out of the 12 ounce can...light side of full bodied...a bit syrupy feeling from the lack of carbonation.
O-I found this very enjoyable and with some improvement to the carbonation level this could be really special. Still a well made doppel.

I got a 6pck of cans of this beer from my local meijer store. It poured a nearly opaque clear dark amber with very thin off white ring head that is not leaving any lace. The scent had typical Doppelbock notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with typical dark german wheat based malt with toasted corn and wheat presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

Dark cola color to it with a not so much head. Nose is very malty as is the taste. Malty flavors abound that give way to a bready flavor. Well done beer.

Disappointed in it's appearance and nose but surprised by it's most important attribute, it's taste! Smooth and flavorful and a good Bock for the season.

There's no beer style that signals spring like Bock beer. Still strong and robust enough to withstand the cooler dips in the weather but drinkable enough to deliver us from imperial-status stouts, porters and quadruple ales, even the Dopplebock can satisfy this specific thirst.
Mid-garnet and with threads of deep amber about its margins, MadTrees' Guten Bock carries a slightly tarnish froth into a malty scent of heavy toast, deep toffee and nuttiness with hints of chocolate and coffee. But once the sweetness latches onto the early palate, the character of toffee, caramel, sorghum and brown sugar is sure to satisfy the sweet tooth.
Remaining malty throughout, the sweetness rolls into a balanced middle palate thanks to the rise of toasty, nutty and almost coffee-like spice that offsets much of the sweetness as the carbonation starts to break apart the starchy-sweet malty weight. Trailing into a mildly bitter finish, the rise of hops gives a broad woodsy and spicy taste to keep the fortified lager from cloying or fatigue.
Full bodied but somewhat relaxed on the palate, the Bock beer is surprisingly drinkable for sweeter and stronger beer. A linger of savory, toasty sweetness carries into a medium-long aftertaste of bittersweetness and warming rummy spice.

At the brewery.
Dark, malty, a bit of a roasty coffee character. I enjoyed it!
