At Galaxy High, the beer has 120 IBUs, 10.2% ABV yet finishes nice and dry. Join two Australian hops as you encounter a crazy collection of tropical and dank flavors throughout this Imperial IPA. It’s big on your palate… disruptive even. Think 'trophic cascades' disruptive.

On tap at Madtree tap room, poured into snifter.

Pours light apricot, with a thin off white head. The nose is filled with huge amounts of tropical notes, pineapple and mango being the biggest. Some bready malts are in there as well. It is a very good smelling beer.

The taste is equally as good if not better. Bitter tropical hops right up front. Pineapple is at the forefront, along with some orange and hints of lemon zest. Back of the mouth gets some sweet mango, along with a slight biscuity malt. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of full bodied. It coats the palate well. ABV is hidden very well for a 10.2%.

I must say I'm not a huge fan of Madtree's canned options, but this is a great DIPA. They need to put this bad boy in 4-pack 16oz cans immediately. Or at the very least make enough to give growler fills at the brewery. This one is worth seeking out even it might be a drive.

Updated review on 4-5-26
Canned on: 3-27-26

A - Medium gold pour with light carbonation and a dense layer resting on top.

S - Big citrus and dank tropical fruit, pineapple, aroma with sweet floral.

T - Dank berry, some spiciness, tropical fruit, citrus, pineapple, spicy tropical fruit rind, sticky sweet floral, and ends with a lingering spicy fruity floral bitterness that lingers for a little while after the sip.

M - Thick, viscous body with gentle carbonation fighting through the density.

O - First time having it this fresh and a totally fantastic D-IPA that hides the ABV extremely well.

Redish copper color. Nose is piney with a sweet hint. Pours with slight head. Taste is where the magic happens. Bitterness and sweetness, but ever so slightly. Backside is bitternesss that embraces the mouth! Great beer.

Pours a deep amber color with a thick cap of sticky white head.
Aroma of stone fruit, mango, earthy pine, and a little honey.
Flavor is bold and fruity up front with apricot, mango, and pineapple. Finishes dry with a dank pine bitterness.
Mouthfeel is smooth and full with good carbonation.
Overall a delicious DIPA that separates itself from the others in flavor and quality.

I got a 4pck of this beer from my local beer store just around the corner. It poured a slightly hazy orangish with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had subtle dank stone fruit notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with a mix of bright citrus and dank stone fruit presence. The mouthfeel was fuller in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

L: Dull amber. Super hazy, a honey hue. Very frothy.

S: Easy nose. An herbal citrus smell. Bready and tangy underneath.

T: An array of tangelo, mango, apricot, a bit of peel, then finishing as an earthy, slightly coniferous, bitter flavor, with lupulin on the finish.

F: Dank and very nice.

O: A great Imperial.

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy honey color with a two finger head; good persistence and webs of lacing

Smell: Dank and piney, with a strong bitter tone

Taste: A little biscuity, up front, with the dank, piney hops taking over in the mid-palate and bringing a high degree of bitterness to the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Not getting much of the tropical element here but this is a good West Coast style IPA

Thanks, Manta200, for the opportunity

L: Dull amber. Super hazy, very frothy.

S: Easy nose. An herbal citrus smell. Bready and tangy underneath.

T: It resembles a Citra hopped ale--but seeing as how Citra is patented brand name, they're actually galaxy hops--Which taste like orange, mango, apricot, a bit of peel, then finishing as a very Earthy, bitter flavor, with lots of lupulin on the finish. It tastes like actual hops were used vs. pellets.

F: Dank and resinous lupulin finish. Very nice. It's a sipper not because of the flavor, but because it will get you hammered quick if you don't.

O: MadTree isn't cutting corners. Try their Ziegler Octoberfest if you can find it.
