Pours slightly hazy, gold in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is big honey, honey crisp apple, and flowers. Medium bodied, sweet, with medium low carbonation. Very honey forward. One of the better tripels I have had in a while. The big honey flavor separates this from some other tripels. Would get this again.

From a 330ml bottle. Pours a cloudy orange color with white head. Smells of earthy yeast with some fruitiness. Medium body. Sweet malt flavors up front with a dry earthy/floral finish. Enjoyable, but not quite up to Belgian standards.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of May 2017, so it's well out of date. Given to me ages ago by my brother. The label calls it an artisanal blonde triple - presumably in the Belgian style. As a strong beer I'm hoping it has held up....

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A rich, hazy orange-amber hue with good carbonation and tons of chunky floating sediment. Yields a huge head of creamy white foam with good retention; this slowly reduces to a persistent surface layer. Nice lacing.

S: Aroma of grainy malt with hints of barley, bread, earthy yeast, faint esters and subtle leafiness. Not unpleasant but oddly one-dimensional - lacking in depth of character.

T: Tastes of pale grainy malt with notes of bread, subtle barley sugar, earthy yeast, mild esters and faint leafiness. Pretty dry, with little bitterness to speak of.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and decent body. Could be a shade thicker for the style. Lightly astringent. Aftertaste of grainy malt, earthy yeast and faint stewed leaves.

O: Hmmm - kinda average. Certainly not up to Belgian standards. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour are a bland mix of grainy malt, earthy yeast and mild leafiness. Decent body. The end result is surprisingly limpid; grainy and earthy but little else. None of the yeast character that a Belgian tripel would supply. Perhaps the bottle age is a factor? Drinkable but lacklustre - you might wish to pass on this one.

I picked up this 330 mL single in Zurich Switzerland while on a business trip. The label is entirely in French. Code printed on the label is 25.03.2016 TEMP 032, indicating a best by date of March 25, 2016. I've been holding this since December, my fault for not drinking it sooner.

A moderate pour generates a small fizzy head which dissipates immediately, leaving a thin foamy meniscus along the edge of the glass. Cloudy pale yellow-orange brew reveals abundant particles of yeast and sediment when held to a light. Smell is lightly sweet with notes of honey, honeycomb, yeast, orange pith, and just a faint touch of nutmeg, cinnamon, and a floral spicy hop. Taste is a bit hot up front with spicy alcohol, followed by a moderate dose of the same floral spicy hop. The harshness of it is exacerbated by an overly rigorous level of carbonation. Also in the taste is some yeast and honeycomb, with a long finish of hop, lemon rind, Belgian spices. The feel is moderately thick, dry, and overly carbonated (as mentioned previously).

Overall a bit harsh. The carbonation is the biggest flaw which makes it difficult to drink. It reminds me a bit of some American IPA-tripel hybrids I've had.

Docteur Gabs – bottling date unknown - Best Before unknown

Appearance: Slightly cloudy golden, see through. Similar to apple juice. Creamy perfect white one finger head with loads of lacing on glass. A very nice looking beer.

Aroma: Apple, citrus, Belgian yeast but not overpowering, smells sweet? Sea breeze, fresh seaweed on a cold beach?!

Taste: Grapes upfront hops in finish, short lived. Alcohol content is well hidden (8% abv). Can taste the grain in this one and possibly a hint of potatoe - reminds me of a good vodka, but it's subtle. Alcohol just starting to creep in now she’s warming up a bit, in a nice warming way.

Mouth feel: Quite dry with the hop finish and bittering on the sides of the tongue.

Overall: A solid non-Belgian tripel, not as complex as the classics from the motherland but a quality, thoroughly enjoyable beer all the same 7.5/10.

330ml bottle served in an ordinary glass.

A: Pours a dark yellow to orange color. A bit cloudy. Forms a big bubbled white and bit creamy head. Medium retention and tons of molasses lacings left in the glass

S: Sweet, fruity and quite malty. Strong belgian profile yeasts. Earthy and bready. Good flowery hops in the nose too

T: Sweet upfront. Strong caramel malts, candy sugar, earthy yeasts. A bit fruity and bready too. Good hops bitterness. Citruses hops profile. A bit molasses with a lingering tongue sensation

M: Creamy and a bit molasses medium body. Medium carbonation. Slightly sweet and malty aftertaste

O: Good drinkability. Nice belgian style ale
