I had this stout on draught at Beer Study in Durham, NC. 16 oz. pour in a pint glass. It pours a walnut color with dark cola hues when held to the light, and a foamy, beige head and extensive lacing with excellent retention. The nose features caramel malt, dark coffee, oatmeal, and nuts. The taste largely follows the nose but there is also a delightful cherry flavor, which combines nicely with the coffee. The finish features notes of hazelnut. This stout is creamy and moderately carbonated, and the 7.7% ABV is noticeable but not distracting. Overall, this is a well-conceived and brewed stout. I've really enjoyed all of the Starpoint offerings I've had the pleasure to drink.
