Dark amber color. Foamy white head. Hops are too strong for the style. Odd, bitter, burnt aftertaste. No malt character whatsoever.

Poured a reddish copper body with minor head and lace patches along glass. Textbook aroma of both caramel malt for sweetness and a piney, hoppy burst for the bitter balance. Beer is hoppier than both the aroma suggests and in terms of equal balance, not a bad thing, though, as there are plenty of caramel and other sweet malts (I can only guess toffee) to make sure the hops don't get out of line. Definitely a red for people who like a hoppy bite to them and overall a simple but effective beer.

Poured on-tap and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a dark, ruby-highlighted amber coloring with a filmy, light, off-white head. Clingy lacing as you drink. Nose of roasted caramel, with subtle citrus and pine hops characteristics, and some sugary sweet notes. Flavors are robust, with roasted forward notes, toffee and caramel sweetness, nutty notes, and hints of chocolate. Body is robust, but not overpowering. The aftertaste is nutty and caramel sweet, with hints of smoke. Smooth, clean finish. Very tasty, very drinkable brew.
