Poured from a tap at Raleigh Brewing into a pint glass.
Appears orangish amber with a nice white foamy head that lasted and good lacing.
Smells bready, spicy, citrus.
Taste follows the nose.
Mouth feel is medium plus for the style.
Overall a very nice American IPA that I would definitely order again.

COD 7/11/17. Cloudy amber pour. Massive world class head volume, lacing and retention.
Outstanding nose with a nice touch of rye spiciness. Hops provide a slightly sweet orange aspect, a touch of zest and an earthiness that isn't dank but more herbal in nature. Underneath is a bready base of pale malt.
Almost heavy medium body with a nice smooth texture that has oily moments and hints of creaminess. The carbonation / body balance is outstanding. The middle is lightly effervescent allowing flavor separation but not disrupting the body characteristics. The finish is finely bubbled and prickly.
The flavor profile is quite outstanding. The balance of this rye IPA is world class. The rye impact is perfect - noticeable throughout but doesn't dominate until the lingering finish. Underneath is a sweet base, with caramel notes, that allows the hops to shine mid-palate. It begins with a herbal earthiness that is slightly spicy. The sweetness of the middle allows orange to emerge which slowly allows a zest influence to take center stage towards the finish. Bitterness is moderate comprised of a combination of zest and pine over a spicy rye with notes of spruce. The finish is slightly dry and slowly fades to rye.

Appearance: cloudy amber in color with a 1/2" head that lasts a bit.
Smell: some bready aroma is all I can detect.
Taste: bread, caramel, ripe fruits, spicy rye, and a harsh bitterness. Alcohol is mildly noticeable.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp from start to finish, The finish was also dry.
Overall: this seemed a bit unbalanced and a bit too much bite here.

From a can of House of Clay at the Burning Can Festival (NC).
Amber body. I was told this was a pale ale but it seemed too robust for style to the point of being readily mistaken for an IPA ... so the bold hoppy aroma and flavor is actually on style.
Dank, hoppy aroma - seems a bit off but may be the rye, which I was unaware of at the time.
Moderately bitter, very hoppy flavor.

Pleasantly surprised by this one. nice bright bitterness, balanced hops that hint at both breadiness and citrus without really leaning either way. Despite the brightness there is still a good depth to the flavor. I will definitely look for this one again.

Pours light hazy orange. Thick, tall, off white head that lasts and lacing.
Smells citrus, pine, malt, earthy and rye.
Tastes citrus and bready malt. Followed by an earthy bitterness and some pepper. Finish is a bitter pine linger. Medium body and fizzy medium carbonation.

Cloudy orange color with a thick foamy head that lingers quite a long time. Nice rye and hop taste, nothing too complex, but done well. Smooth, creamy texture.

A nice cloudy, deep gold beer with a giant fluffy head that leaves a ton of lacing. The aroma is lemony citrus and pine with rye and sweet malt. The taste is full of bright lemon and pine with a spicy rye finish. This is a really tasty beer with citrus and spice and a great bitter finish.

Cloudy orange-gold. Decent head retention and lacing. A lot of malt character, in a good way, but still a solid resinous pine and citrusy hop flavor. Solid lingering bitterness. Lots and lots of rye. Peppery with a super unfiltered earthy/musty taste and aroma. A solid medium body with a creamy feel. Borders on an imperial in body. Enjoyable, but probably a bit full to style. Tasty brew. I would gladly drink it again
