Iced tea color, caramel and leather nose along with raisin bran, butterscotch, and mild chocolate. Greasy tobacco added to the taste. Tons of oak and leather, with flavors of marshmallow and vanilla as well. Greasy and slick mouthfeel, low carbonation. Tobacco lingers for ever in the aftertaste. Honey sweetness too. Solid.

The ABV (9.8) sneaks up on you -- it really doesn't taste as strong as it is. Nice color, good smell, and a reasonably complex taste. I had it on tap at the brewery a few months ago, and I liked it just a bit more then; perhaps sitting in a growler for six hours didn't help it?

On tap at the brewpub. Clear amber pour with a small tan head. Sweet caramel/toffee/maple syrup notes throughout. To its credit, I would never have guessed it was over 9%, but the body is a bit thin. It could use some heft, complexity and/or bitterness.
