L - Orange colour with a small white head

S - Good smell that lingers, mostly banana and fruitcake

T - As the smell indicated the taste is strong but quite clear : banana, fruitcake and a bit of smoke.

F - nice fine carbonation, it's quite smooth! A bit of booze that warms your heart

O - Maybe one of the best christmas beer I had this winter! Really good taste and smell with a good drinkability.

A proud Haute-Savoie ambassador. The best beer I had from this local brewery so far!

A 330ml bottle with a BB of Oct 2014. Picked up from a local shop on a recent holiday in France. A Christmas beer made with organic ingredients. Bottle conditioned. I'd better drink it while the weather here is still suitably wintery....

Poured into a Delirium chalice. A deep amber-brown hue with good carbonation and plenty of chunky sediment. Yields a large head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a surface layer. Aroma of rich, fruity malt with notes of raisins, fruitcake, dried fruit, brown sugar, caramel, mild grass/hay and earthy yeast esters. Surprisingly sweet, perhaps overly so, but it seems appropriate for the style.

Tastes of sweet, fruity malt with a dry finish. Notes of raisins, prunes, fruitcake, dried fruit, brown sugar, caramel, earthy yeast, grass/hay and faint stewed leaves. Quite sweet, with a mild bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with pleasant carbonation but a rather thin body for its strength. Aftertaste of sweet, fruity malt and brown sugar.

Not bad; the aroma and flavour have good presence and suit a winter warmer quite well. More so than other examples I've tried. The nose is nicely rounded, even if the sweetness borders on excessive. The taste is decent but lacks depth - it's a tad sugary and doesn't have any of the spicy character that the label suggests it should have. The body is OK but could be thicker/chewier to complement the flavour. All said it's a decent brew that goes down well in winter; all I need is a fireside to sit by. It certainly stands above the competition in the region it comes from. Worth sampling if you come across it.
