A 330ml bottle with a BB of Nov 2017. Acquired a little while back from a webshop.
A: Poured into a tulip. A very dark reddish-brown that appears black in the glass. Yields a decent head of frothy tan foam that lasts for a minute or two before reducing to a patchy surface layer.
S: Aroma of rich roasted malt with hints of chocolate, coffee, mild molasses, subtle dried fruit, grain, ale yeast and faint stewed leaves. Satisfyingly dark and complex.
T: Tastes of dark malt with notes of roasted grain, coffee, chocolate, subtle molasses, a hint of dried fruit, ale yeast, vague stewed leaves and a touch of smokiness. Slightly sweet, followed by a robust, malt-driven bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with soft carbonation and good body for the strength. Aftertaste of roasted malt, coffee, cocoa and ale yeast.
O: Rather nice - a solid porter. Looks alright, while the aroma and flavour are replete with roasted malt, coffee, caramel and yeast notes. Good body. Satisfying presence given the ABV. Goes down readily enough; worth sampling if you have the chance.
