A lot on the boubon but it manages to remain balanced at all time. Big hazelnut and walnut character, astringent cocoa.
The bourbon brings a nice earthiness and herbal coconut presence. Vanilla and cocoa powder as it warms up;
Not too thin nor too heavy nor sweet.

A very nice bourbon barrel aged IRS

Dark brown color with brownish head. Aroma has whiskey, toffee and wood. Taste is bourbon forward with lots of caramel, toffee and smooth, well integrated roasted malts with a light woody bitterness on the finish. Almost full bodied with soft carbonation. Really well made, smooth and easy drinking.

9 Sep 2018. From XXXII. In Teku glass. Playing Avernum 4. Soft bourbon notes, not overwhelming, giving it a pleasant profile. However i think i prefer yhe normal version, as the bourbon hides plenty of its excellence. No foam. Avg 4

29 Enero 2021. De Labirratorium. Nueva etiqueta 2020. En copa Teku. Jugando a Doom Eternal y SpongeBob Battle for Bikini Bottom. Avg 4.62

28 Febrero 2021. Edición 2021. De la Labirratorium. En copa Mahou Barrica. Jugando a Larry Wet Dreams. Con galletas Tostarica. Puede que no sea la mejor bourbon-birra que he probado, pero está bastante bien, aunque presenta un elevadísimo abv que no le aporta nada. Avg 4.25.

A 330ml bottle, bottled on 12th September 2017 and a best before date of September 2022. Poured into a snifter glass.

Appearance: Black in colour with pretty much no head and no lacing.

Aroma: Nice bourbon, vanilla and liquorice with chocolate, cocoa, roasty malts and alcohol in the background along with hints of oak.

Taste: Lightly sweet beginning with bourbon, vanilla, raisins and dried dark fruits followed by a light roast, chocolate and cacao.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, medium bodied with low carbonation and a lightly boozy finish.

Overall: A very nice RIS with great bourbon flavours coming through. Body could have been heavier, but despite this, it was still very good.

The bourbon-barrel version of one of my favorite imperial stouts from Spain. Intense aroma of chocolate, raw cocoa beans and coffee. Full barrel flavor, woodsy, sharp around the edges.

Brown butter finish that stays in the mouth for quite a while. Black olive, charred Mediterranean forest.

Very good looks and excellent drinkability for a 13% beast. The mouthfeel could be thicker, but it doesn't hurt this stunning barrel-aged brew from Spain. Top notch!
