Had on-tap at Alpine Beer Co in Alpine, CA
Appearance - Served in a pint, hazy and golden yellow in color with a thin, consistent layer of surface suds. Broken webbing, lines and spotting.
Smell - Moderate aroma, with notes of citrus, mild pineapple and a hint of peppery rye spice.
Taste - Hoppy, juicy flavor with some spicy rye undertone. Orange, guava, mango and lesser pineapple. Malts are sweet and slightly earthy, with black pepper rye spice bite hitting by mid-taste. Finish is mild juicy orangeĀ with fair pith bitterness and lingering pineapple acidity.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with moderate, bitey carbonation. Fair drinker with a crisp, dry finish.
Overall - A damn good Rye IPA. If it drank a little smoother it would be phenomenal.
