Poured from a 12oz can into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a medium brown color, with a thin off- white head that fades quickly and leaves a decent lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains maple, caramelized malts, nuts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with a hearty malt character that is quickly followed by sweet flavors of maple and caramel. There’s a touch of smokiness in the background as well. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a solid and flavorful beer to session with if you’re in the mood for the style.

 

 

Interesting brewery so far, decent beers, and cans, yay cans! And dated too. 2/20/14. Also yay spring equinox!

Pours a decent off white foamy fizzy head that hits a finger and fades at a med pace, decent soapy lacing, very dark mahogany brown with a bit of maroon light getting through as it's actually fairly clear.

Nose brings nice brown malts, toasty and a bit biscuity, mild nutty, with some caramel and mild toffee, hint of a very cut down molasses like, little syrupy candy note but not a lot, just a touch of a grassy hop note.

Taste brings more toasty brown malts, candy like but not too sweet, not really sweet at all but a little syrupy feeling, soft and fluffy with probably some oats in there, toasty brown malts, nutty, caramel, mild toffee note, and a touch of that processed hint molasses note. Then a mild grassy hop note that gets mildly bitter. Finish is dry surprisingly, but gets fairly bitter as the hops turn a little spicy, mild caramel and toasted brown malt lingering.

Mouth is med bod, little creamy like, nice carb.

Overall pretty interesting, nice brown ale overall, good malts that bring the sweet characters without the sweetness, nice hop character that is light and doesn't overstep its bounds but then turns up a bit nicely on the finish, dry, nice carbonation and nice little creamy note. Very drinkable.

 

 

A- Poured from the can to a tulip glass with a dark brown body, light does not make it through the beer at all really. A cap of foamy, frothy texture forms to about one finger high but falls rather quickly to a ring. Lacing begins spotty and thins out toward the bottom.

S- Aromatic toasted and Brown Ale malt profile makes up a bulk of the aroma. Toasty, toffee, nutty, caramel and a slight bit of roast notes. Hops provide a slight balance to the grains.

T- Similar to the smell but loses a bit of steam here for whatever reason and feels a bit thinned out. Malts still provide toasted nutty, caramel, cereal grain and light roast notes. Hops make more of a difference here with floral, earthy and pine hints.

MF- Light bodied but a substantially creamy texture allows the richer of the malt flavors to shine and prevents thinness in the body. Carbonation at a high end level and is fairly crisp. Light nutty and hop bitterness in the finish.

Aroma is really inviting while the taste backs it up enough without losing that malty goodness. For 4.2% this packs a rich enough flavor to not feel thin overall but finds a great balance somewhere between light and the Brown ales of today that are almost stouts. I would definitely invest in a six pack of this.
