Served in a standard pint glass. Courtesy of Celia, our buddy from across the pond, in Oxford!
It pours a coppery, orange-hued amber color with a rather smallish bubbly head (even after a bit of hard pour coaxing).
The aroma is most definitely English Pale Ale, all the way. Smells of cut oak, tart fruit (pears) and pennies rise and fade, followed by a nice whiff of fresh baked bread and distant hay.
There's a lot of flavor (flavour) packed into this rather small ABV ale!
Tastes of strong tea, tart berries and fruit, earthy malt and hay round into one very satisfying overall English-style small ale. As it warms and sweetens a bit, a minor taste of oaked Sherry is noticed.
Gotta LOVE a beer that's true to form. The only surprise here is just how flavorful a small Pale Ale can be.
This will pair nicely with BBQ on a fresh cut lawn on a warm summer's evening.
