Aberdeen got this one about right. Of the three beers I tried, I favored this one the best.
It is quite at home in their english pub setting. Very rounded, Smooth as a Porter should be and almost but not quite balanced. From the start the Dark ruby color was appealing although not much of a crown adorned it. First taste was right-on, but as the glass slowly vanished, I found the Caramel notes slowly overpowered the flavor balance. This beer has the capability of becoming a strong performer for these folks but perhaps a different yeast strain would bring this more to style.
In their defense, I have only sampled this once and perhaps it is a very good porter, but simply not brewed with repeatability or maybe a bit young for a Porter....
