Presentation: BBCo. growler, served in a BBCo. tulip glass.
Appearance: Deep, rich amber color. It develops a one finger light tan head and leaves some amazing lacing all over the glass.
Smell: Rich, very present malt smell with some floral and pine notes from the hops to wrap things up.
Taste; You can definitely feel the pine and floral notes from the hops notes but they get dominated by the strong malt presence. It's very sweet with just the right amount of bitterness for a very balanced taste overall. There's also an alcohol kick at the end that reminds you this is packing over 8% ABV.
Mouthfeel: Incredibly smooth, rich and medium bodied. There's an average amount of carbonation.
Overall: A nice surprise for a an Imperial/Double IPA. You won't find whopping hop flavors or scents here (though they are still present). What you'll find is an uncharacteristically malty IPA. This will disappoint hopheads but make lovers of a more balanced and malt heavy beer experience rejoice.
