Presentation: 32 oz. crowler with the canning date written on the label. Served in a Rastal Harmony tumbler.
Appearance: The dense, one finger head stays around a little bit and leaves behind a lot of lacing that covers the entire glass. It'a a slightly hazy, bright gold color.
Smell: The wonderful, rich, warm coffee aroma dominates the nose, with some subtle dark chocolate, grain and floral aromas showing up in the background.
Taste: It's quite bitter with strong notes of coffee, cocoa and hops. There are some fruity notes in there as well of citrus peel and blackberries to round things off.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied but leaning towards the thicker side with a crisp, high carbonation bite that makes it mildly refreshing. It's a good texture but the beer would have been better served by a smoother and creamier feel.
Overall: The coffee aroma is great and it looks awesome. When it comes to the flavor profile, the different bitter and fruit notes are sometimes at odds with each other but that doesn't take away too much from the beer. Carbonation could be toned down a touch as well. That said, overall it's a very good beer. One of the best from Boquerón to date.
