12 oz. can poured into tulip
(9/22/2016 born-on date)
L: murky gold that clears up some, pushes up huge head well over 1-inch tall, offwhite foam that's super sticky and is lacing all the way down, keeps a thick collar; halfway into the glass, it's still misty, maybe 70-80% clear; looks like a craft brew
S: sweet peach, lemon peel, watermelon rind, very sweet ... man ... it's super sweet, as it warms turns into strawberry candy or cherry candy, like the filling of a chocolate covered cherry (minus the chocolate)
T: lots of juicy tropical fruit flavor from the palisades hops, lots of bitterness too, especially in the aftertaste; also has a big biscuity malt presence that mixes in some candied orange sweetness; so sweet at times its like a fresh piece of bubble gum
F: ale perfection ... soft and weighty at first then hits with a bit of carbonation to lighten it ... again, craft perfect
O: considering the beer is 5-6 weeks old, it's outstanding; another fantastic edition to Martin House's portfolio; I knew they wouldn't disappoint, and they didn't ... this one's not even in my wheelhouse of favorite styles and notes, but it's everything a good American IPA is supposed to be, and you can tell they didn't skimp on the malt; I'll try each and every version of their Cellarman's Series IPA I can get if they're this well made
