12 oz. can poured into tulip
(11/10/2016 printed on can ... also 7% ABV, not 6.7% like I mistakenly entered when creating the profile ... my bad)

L: about 80% clear amber-gold ... the red is consistently mixed in to the yellow; pushes up about 1/2 an inch of offwhite/beige foam that's pretty stick up top; keeps a thick collar of offwhite foam and most of a thin skin; looks like it might lace some on the way down

S: very sweet but full of a fruity hop aroma, not so much bread or malt -- orange, orange candy, peach and just a twinge of bittersweet grapefruit; the slight bitter note is well hidden and at times seems like it could be green onion or cilantro or green bell pepper, but the major note is sweeter orange

T: very bitter and very full of sweet biscuity malt ... the hop flavor seems to blend into that malt flavor, maybe apricot or peach, but it's hard to call other than bitter, both up front and in the aftertaste; over time, an earthy flavor builds up in the aftertaste ... not medicinal, just a good hop buildup; the malt is thick ... like glazed donuts almost, and this beer is relatively fresh (less than three weeks old); hops might be pushing in some sweet orange flavor

F: ale soft and decent weight ... I gave it a hard pour and have swirled it quite a bit to pick up the smell, so I've softened it manually, but it's not overly carbonated to begin with; fine all around, no flaws

O: another good brew from Martin House; this is the second version of Cellarman's Reserve that I've tried, the first being the Palisades, and this one seems to have a lot more malt ... the hops here must be fresh because the bite is popping and consistent, but they aren't pushing in much flavor other than a general bitterness; the effect is pretty cool, for it's a great example of what a big malt IPA can taste like with the bitter/sweet forces bouncing off each other well
