Aroma is dark malts, chocolate, peanut butter and a hint of salt. The flavor is fruit, dark malts/pretzels, chocolate, peanut butter and an acidic/very slightly salty finish.

Peanut Butter Pretzel Stout from Martin House Brewing. Picked up Spec’s #100, DeZavala, SATX, 09/11/21. $ 1.64(Including tax)/12 oz can ($ 0.136/oz). On room temperature shelf at store, stored at 37 degrees at home. Reviewed 13/06/22. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on bottom of can “CANNED ON 10/14/21”. Served at 45.1 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King Snifter. Final temperature 54.6 degrees.
Appearance – 3.
First pour – Amber Brown (SRM 18), clear.
Body – Deep Brown (SRM 30), opaque. When rear-lite, same, but amber at the edges and tiny particles of beige precipitate lies on the inside curvature.
Head – Average (Maximum four cm, aggressive center pour), wheat, high density, good retention, diminishing to a 0.5 cm to 0.9 cm high density crown constantly and heavily fed by effervescence and a thick complete cap.
Lacing – Poor. A few drag marks as the level drops.
Aroma – 3.5 – Very heavy aroma of peanut butter, like a peanut butter cup, with some roasted malt. No hops, no yeast, no pretzels.
Flavor – 3.5 – Much weaker than the nose suggests but distinctly peanut butter and pretzels – no salt. Roasted malt but no yeast and no hops. Slightly bitter. No ethanol (6.5 % ABV as marked on label) aroma or taste. Very weak gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, creamy, soft but lively carbonation (caresses the mouth and tongue).
Final impression and summation: 3.5 In general, I’m not a fan of peanut butter flavored beers. This one lives up to its name, with both peanut butter and pretzel flavors at a tolerable level. A bit of salt would have helped. The aroma lasts the entire glass and certainly enhances the flavor. A bit over the top for a routine drinking beer, but well-worth trying.

Thanks to Ozzylizard for this one, from his NBS BIF #14 boxes. 12oz can (dated 10/14/21) poured into 14oz teku. Poured the expected solid black color of the style, with 1-3/4 inches of brown head that had very good retention and almost no lacing.
The aroma certainly had peanut butter, and some chocolate, but I didn't pick up any pretzel. What base malt scents I could pick up seemed solid.
On the tongue, peanut butter still had the lead, with the base beer showing through a touch more, but still no pretzel.
The body, while a touch thin for the style, was still smooth and even, with a semi-sweet finish.
Drinkability was good, i could drink this one again.
Overall, a nice brew, but they need to up the damn pretzel! Worth a shot if you see it.

Pours dark brown almost black in color. Thin fizzy head dissipates pretty quickly leaving no residual head. Its pretty unremarkable in appearance.
Aroma is really interesting ... Roasty malts are interspersed with a strong aroma of salt, light cocoa, and a mild peanut butter note. Its unique, but it really does evoke a peanut butter pretzel.
The taste is a complete letdown after that surprisingly on point aroma. You get some roasted malts lacking in any depth, a touch of some generic sweetness that almost has more of a vanilla flavor than anything reminiscent of peanut butter. The salt is there, but very mild. I know its tough to get peanut butter to come through in stouts (I can only think of one that did it well), but its disappointing given that it was nicely present in the nose. Moderate bitterness on the back end.
Feel is thin, light, but with a certain silky smoothness to it. Prickly carbonation.
Overall this is an interesting beer and one that attempts a cool idea, but just doesn't really execute it all that well.

Pours a dark brown with dense creamy head. Rocky at the top. Two fingers of dark khaki. Nice, strong lacing.
Nose is strong peanut. That's about it. Front and center. Enjoyable albeit a little simple.
Taste is malt, dark fruit, peanut, savoriness, smoky at the end. An interesting collection of flavors. The dark fruit at the front creates an interesting quality, which quickly turns into the peanut. This eventually turns into the ending smoky malt. A lot of flavor in this tiny stout.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with mild carbonation. Not really impressive but serviceable for a brew this low in ABV.
Overall an nice little novelty beer. One 12 oz can is all I'll need. The flavors kinda hang on a little heavy overtime. But the style is executed well enough for a hard to work with flavor profile like peanut butter.

Martin House Brewing’s Peanut Butter Pretzel Stout 6.5% ABV 40 IBU. This stout pours a deep dark brown color with very little light shining through the glass with a one finger width tan colored head that dissipates quickly leaving no lacing on the glass. The aroma is of fresh roasted peanuts with a backbone of dark roasted malts making the aroma sweet and toasty. The flavor is a lot like the aroma with roasted sweet peanut butter mingling with dark roasted malts adding a hint of sweetness before finishing with a hop bitterness that lingers for a bit. The mouthfeel is creamy without being overly thick and syrupy along with it also not being overly carbonated.Overall a good stout but I wish it had some chocolate flavors or coffee flavor with dark fruits adding depth and complexity. 7/10

Martin House re-released this beer for the 2019 October season, and I'm glad, as I missed out last time around. Poured out of a 12-oz can into a pint glass. Very thin pale head, quickly disappeared, leaving a dark brown beer with very little light penetration. Peanut butter comes through VERY heavily in the aroma, pairing quite well with the dark malt. Taste has a hint of sweetness to it, mostly following the aroma, with the malt and peanut butter blending together quite nicely. Body character is stiff and heavy, with a very thin amount of carbonation leading to a creamier feel. Altogether not unpleasant, definitely would pair well with a salty pretzel, as the label suggests.
