This release features two beers aged in white wine barrels and red wine barrels, I enjoyed the white wine barrel aged beer on June 5th 2019, before indulging on the red wine barrel aged beer on July 1st 2019. The white wine barrel beer was slightly reminiscent of a chardonnay with a light effervescence and sour raspberry tannins with a slight silky finish, which was very pleasant and smooth on the back-end. The red wine barrel aged beer had a sour and delicately piney scent, which was almost as smooth as its finish. It held a very tart fruity body, blends of cherry, raspberry, a bit of cranberry, with a slight tannin finish, which was incredibly smooth on the back-end. The red wine barrel aged beer is my favorite at the time, but both beers were incredibly enjoyable and could almost be treated as two separate releases despite being apart of the same two-pack.

What a surprise.

Great Sour here. The Tantalus comes in a 2 can pack. These are the Martin House True Love Raspberry Sour Ales “Imperial”... one can aged 4 months in white wine barrels, the other can in red wine barrels. I preferred the beer aged in red wine barrels. More complex. One sip of this brew and you knew you had a quality Sour if you are a fan of the style. A bit young and with a hard raspberry edge which was welcome. Seek this out. Another unique surprise from the brewery that experiments... often.
