It was hot today in the 100's. A scissor-grinder cicada in a nearby tree is providing the background music. It is still 95 (35 centigrade) at 8:30pm and I am sitting in my backyard drinking a strong beer that's pretty good in the heat. Slice of heaven a calvados barrel aged apple pie sour (American Wild Ale) from Martin Brewhouse, Fort Worth, Texas, ABV 9.20%. Calvados is a type of apple brandy. I think most apple pies tend to be too sweet, I like my apple pie more tart. This beer taste like apple pie but the more tart kind. There's also cinnamon and some brandy flavor. It is really fruity/apple and thirst quenching despite the medium body and creamy texture, like apple juice. The art work on the box and can is beautiful.
Look: amber with a thick off-white head
Aroma: apple, cinnamon, brandy
Taste: apple pie but more of the tart kind. There's also cinnamon and some brandy flavor. It is really fruity/apple and thirst quenching despite the medium body and creamy texture, like apple juice.
Body/Overall: medium body, easy drinking, very good
