Appearance: Pours a hazy medium gold, with a small, somewhat coarse white head, which fades relatively quickly. Clumps of fat bubbles adorn most of the inside of the glass wall. occasional fat bubbles drift lazily to the surface. The lacing is quite thin, sparse, and patchy.
Aroma: The aroma is magnificent and beguiling, like raspberries drenched in vanilla cream, with a mild hint of sourness. I find difficulty in noting the dominant aroma, perhaps the raspberries, but not by much. There is a sour tang in the aroma, but the cream, vanilla, and raspberries are to the forefront.
Taste: Upon tasting, there is a wave of sourness, though rather less than I expected. This is followed by an undercurrent of raspberry jam, and hints of vanilla. For the most part, the sour raspberry dominates throughout the taste, but there are \hints of vanilla and cream, throughout. The finish is dry and a touch tart, although not enough to be off-putting. The finish is dominated by tart notes o raspberry, which linger on, well past the end of the taste.
Mouth feel: Smooth and pleasant, fairly full, with a bit of champagne-lie carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: Gummy Ghost is an example of a style that I have no prior experience of. While in the past, I have consciously avoided sour beers, they have their own appeal. In the future, I hope to try other fruited sours.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a La Fin du Monde tulip. Gummy Ghost is one of the beers in the "Marty's Little Monsters" quartet.
