Pours chocolate-black with a three finger head full of tiny bubbles. Drink the foam head -- it's delightful! Aroma is strongly chocolate, cream and vanilla. Taste is chocolate, with a quite pleasant similarity to cake. There's a surprising low carbonation. Still, the beer is creamy, quite sweet and little evidence of ABV.

Pours an effervescent chestnut/mahogany with a pinky of tan/mocha head, drops off fast. Below average head retention & lacing, plenty viscous
S: Cocoa, vanilla, fades as it warms, some raw/fusel booze starts to come through as well
T: Follows the nose, some creamy, dry lactose notes up front. Chocolate cake & creamy vanilla as this beer warms up, some alcohol on the tongue, a bit of woody hop bitterness. Finishes with chocolate cake, with a bit of vanilla cream infused booze
MF: Medium body, fairly creamy carbonation, body thins a touch once warm
Mind blowing that heftiness is so well hidden, still a bit sweet, but heads & shoulders over most of their beers. Nose falls apart at the end. Not a bad dessert Imp Stout, but one & done

Death By Chocolate Cake has a thin, beige head and a very dark-brown, nearly black, appearance, with virtually no lacing. The aroma is of faint grain. The flavor is of sweet, milk chocolate cake, with touches of vanilla. Bitterness is low. Death By Chocolate Cake has a heavy body and semi-sweet finish.

Smells and tastes like chocolate cake with vanilla frosting but seems a bit artificial; a touch boozy. Not overly sweet but seems really light bodied for 12%.

Dark, not too thick, dark tan head, dissolved quickly
Sweet caramel and chocolate on the nose
Rich, sweet, chocolate, crème, nougat, on the palate with sweet roasty boozy finish.
Mouthfeel velvety and smooth.
Overall good with lots of flavor, very sweet, not the most drinkable for me due to ABV and strong flavor but great tasting beer.

This beer smell and tastes like it’s name suggests. Very chocolate, very sweet, very rich. Decent looking beer. Dark brown color with nice beige head and good lacing. Along with the chocolate, smell and taste of cream and vanilla. Fairly smooth, rich feel. Enjoyable but the flavors do not mesh as well as other beers of this type I have had.

Appearance: Black glass, some brown clarity at the extreme edges, doesn't hold a head.
Aroma: Rich chocolate note, but it seems a little artificial. Still good, cocoa powder.
Taste: Vanilla, chocolate pudding, sugary malt, just lots of sweetness, with a slight hop backing.
Mouthfeel: Medium heavy, slight chew, oily finish.
Overall: Big sweet pastry like stout. Great to split, but it's too rich for a single serving. Does what it says on the tin.

I guess the anticipation slightly outweighed the actual experience, but it's still pretty good. I find a little bit of astringency finds it's way thru in the taste, which otherwise is precisely what you'd expect. Not sure I can precisely quantify it beyond that. Alcohol is well hidden. But of the billions and billions of martin house creations, this one is somewhere in the middle.
