Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy medium reddish amber with a massive, dense and extraordinarily persistent off-white head. The lacing forms a thick and irregular unbroken ring about the glass wall. Fat bubbles cling to the glass beneath the surface.
Aroma: The aroma offers a rather sweet note of Hershey's Chocolate Syrup, bitter cocoa, and cold coffee. Sweet alcohol notes are present, as well.
Taste: On tasting, there is strong wave of cold coffee, abundant Hershey's Chocolate Syrup, and bitter cocoa, with the aroma being very much a harbinger of the taste. As the taste progresses, the high ABV of twelve percent makes itself known, with gentle warmth and a mild spiciness. As the taste progresses, the taste turns toward bitter cocoa and a little burnt caramel. The finish emphasizes bitter cocoa and sweetened black coffee.
Mouth feel: Rich and full, very soft, with just a hint of carbonation.
Drinkabilty/notes: A spectacular "over-the-top" dessert beer, which pairs quite well with peanut butter cookies and peanut butter cups, and likely with most chocolate desserts. Calmer Than You Are is a "must try" for those who appreciate dessert beers.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard sixteen-ounce aluminum can, served in a La Fin du Monde tulip.
