Bought directly at the microbrewery, which is adjacent to the only 8-sail windmill in Britain!
Served at cellar temperature from 500ml brown bottle into straight glass. As suggested by the brewer, I let it stand for 10 minutes to let the carbonation die off a bit. This is a bottle-conditioned beer like most of the brewery's offerings. Looking forward to this one.
A) Very dark ruby-black, almost opaque. Thin white film with a bit of lace.
S) Nothing huge, perhaps expected for a mild, hints of darker malts and chocolate.
T) First in is mild acidity, followed by mellow roasted malt bitterness at the back of the mouth. After a few sips, the chocolate flavour does become apparent, but it is very slight, unlike say Young's Chocolate Stout etc.
F) Little carbonation; the acidity lingers longer than I would prefer.
O) Would be improved a lot by reducing the acidity, or at least balancing it better with more of the chocolate flavour.
