This is a review of the 6th bottle of this beer ever sold!!
Served cool from 500ml brown bottle into weissbier glass.
A) Laughably over carbonated - took about 10 minutes to pour it. Laughably cloudy - opaque; think well-shaken Tropicana. Very big white foamy head, dissipates to 5mm white head. A light orange carrot-coriander soup colour.
S) Strong Belgian witbier yeast smell, with a hint of hydrogen sulphide (eggy). More than a hint of 1980's Robinsons orange squash.
T) Quite acidic, mild Belgian yeast is there in the middle. Slightly metallic at the finish. Soapy aftertaste, but that isn't unique for the style. After around a third of the bottle, some more pleasant citrus fruit flavours are evident, but the acidity is dominant.
M) Pouring it has released a vast amount of carbonation and it is pleasantly carbonated as it goes down - one thing that is on-style. The density in the mouth is right for the style and is respectable for a 4.2% beer.
O) They say, 'don't knock a trier' and as an English witbier fan it is my interest to encourage small local breweries to make good wits - this is a brand new beer by the brewery and I am sure they can improve it from this first attempt.
Try again guys, I am sure the next batch will be great.
