L- Effectively black, pours with 5mm fine pale-tan head clearing very slowly.
S- Toasty, even slightly smokey.
T- Quite dry, distinctly toasty, going into quite a pungent smokeyness, with a slightly sour/tangy finish.
F- Quite pungent, would tolerate a moderate chilling. I do register a quite meaty body and have to sloosh this actively around my mouth to get a sense of the added damson fruit.
O- Very unusual to me, a smokey porter with a dry finish, with fruit I find hard to spot. It's won some quite prestigious awards though, so perhaps it's me!
Bottle Conditioned. BB: Sep-2019
ps. The other 8Sail 'Damson Porter' listed here is 4.5%. Since that one only had two reviews from 2013 and 2015, I created a new iteration for it as 'Damson Porter 5.0%'. It currently lists as such on the brewery's website.
I also noticed that another of my beers from them also has a different ABV% to this website. Perhaps the brewery shift ABVs around more often than one might expect?

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
