On tap. Poured a semi-opaque, brown color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of biscuity malt, caramel and citrusy hops. Tasted sweet and malty with a mild bitterness.

a really dark and sturdy brown ale, pushing into the porter spectrum a little bit, with a ton of dark roasted barley lending notes of drip coffee and char, really pretty awesome depth to it, and a smooth creamy feel than glides down the throat, super easy drinking and well done. one of the first dark beers i have had from these guys, and its a hit. pretty much works with everything on their menu too (the food here is fabulous). nearly black in color, this is a nice contrast to some of the lighter browns circulating the billings beer scene. smooth and wintery, lots of body, and a dry finish, almost nothing left of the slightly sweet caramely middle it has. hopped pretty well too, with some spice and some bitter coming on late, and a vegetal sort of freshness that gives life to this thing. great carbonation helps with that as well, but i really like all the body it has. not quite palate coating stick to the ribs sort of thing, but its robust anyway. i could drink ten of these happily, spot on for what i personally love about the style. great execution.

Pours a clear, brown color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of sweet malt, slight nut, slight pale malt, hint of hop, and a hint of yeast. Fits the style of an English Brown Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, pale malt, hint of yeast, hint of hops, and a hint of caramel malt. Overall, good aroma, decent body, but good blend.
