Enjoyed on tap at Wingers in Oklahoma City.
Pours a pretty brown ale with an off-white head.
Inoffensive subtle aroma.
Malt-forward flavor, some toasty notes, some caramel.
Medium mouthfeel.
A lighter version of this style, but I like it. Very sessionable.

Dark yet clear brown, lightening to a sort of red towards the bottom, with a tall tan head.
Despite being so dark, the malt isn't massive. It is darker caramels, but in a lighter expression, as with some bready wheat and gingersnap. Hops seem to add a little metallic note, though.

16oz can from Toby. Dark amber pour, wispy head. Malty aroma, leathery, dead leaves. Taste is malty, sweet, faint peaty notes. Nice feel, a little light.

Tap pour at the taproom. Served chilled in a snifter.
Medium brown colored body. Some khaki colored bubbles for a head. Leaves some scattered small spots for lacing.
Aroma is roasted malts and dark fruit, but faint.
Taste is sweet roasted malts, caramel, and raisin/prune. All continue in the aftertaste.
Less than medium mouthfeel. Has some stickiness. Okay carbonation.
Drinks thin but has some good caramel and dark fruit flavors.

Dark dark amber, almost can’t see through it. Head is airy and dissipates rather quickly. Pretty though.
Smells kinda like pennies.
Taste: a remarkable oolong tea flavor. Other than that a little caramel note at the end.
Feels thin and watery, but that’s not bad at all if you’re in the mood to chug something. Ok, gets a little more substantial as it sits for a minute.
Overall:
I’d rather have Bellhaven. This doesn’t feel heavy enough or taste like malted barley. But it’s a really smooth easy-drinker that I’d prefer in place of most brown ales (even though this isn’t in that category).

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a very dark brown with a half inch of head. The nose is roasty with some nice scotch notes. Oak, bread, and malts. The taste is super smooth. More bread, molasses, toffee, oak, pipe tobacco, and some coffee grounds. Tons of malts hanging around. Easy drinker.

Pours a chestnut color with a thumb+ of tan head. No head retention or lacing
S: Toasty, a little brown bread.
T: Toasty, some caramel, a little of booze one the tongue , some peatyness up front. Toasty notes, caramel/toffee, dryness & a little peat as this beer warms up. Finishes a little toasty, with peatyness & dryness
MF: Medium/heavy body, modest carbonation
Solid take on the style, wish the nose was better. This would make me want to try more of their beers

This is from my Untapped review, with some edits. I enjoyed this at the brewery while I was in Billings. Rating 3.75
Dark amber pour with an off white head.
Nose has hints of malts
Flavor is malty, roasted and nutty combined with a hint of smoke. There's also a bit of raisin that hits as well.
Body is rich and full.
Very delicious overall.

when the bartender pours you a free pint, you dont turn it down because its a scotch ale and you wanted something hoppy, you say thanks a million and enjoy it, which is exactly how it went down here. generous folks in here. this is a real solid take on the style, substantial and autumnal, weighty even, but still with a certain drinkability to it as these go. part of that is that despite being sweet in the center, it doesnt end up that way, and even though there is a lot of body, its also got some balance, so its not monotone or anything, a well made beer as they pretty much all are here. i like the dried fruit complexity to the grain, definitely a harvesty vibe, prune and date, some dark bread crusts too and that sort of warmth to it, but its lower alcohol for the style too, and i think that helps with the wanting a second pint part. the deep color is deceptive because its not roast or chocolate forward despite looking like it should be, the malt stops somewhat shallower than that, which allows for a lot of cool nuance. rum and cognac notes, cola and even root beer, and a sort of english element to the ferment. smooth to drink on too, not overly carbonated but it doesnt need to be, and exceedingly fresh tasting, which is a weird thing to observe in this style but here it is. great with their smoked chicken wings in here, this is definitely the beer for this time of year. always love visiting this place!
