This dark and most definitely Roasty Porter is one of a kind. Black rye is evident on the nose. The bitterness of the hop profile is rounded out by a bit of malty sweetness.

Sampled on tap at Domminicks in OS. Rich brown In color that is not quite clear. Minimal head on this beer. Rich malt and a bit of brown sugar on the nose. While the rye and malt are apparent, they are both well balance by the hops. Finish is very clean and refreshing.

They call this a "hoppy rye porter," so I'll call it a Rye Beer. On tap at Public House in La Jolla. Green and grainy flavors. Rough and rustic, but certainly flavorful.
The rye flavors are really noticeable. It's sort of a buckwheat flavor along with an intense herbal taste. A touch of the old ashtray too. The hops are resisny and leave a very long bitter aftertaste.
Malt sweetness in every sip is followed by the attack of the grain monsters. Manly-looking dark brown in the pint shaker with an average head and carbonation. The ending is extremely bitter and it all gets tiresome. Call it a Rye IPA.
