This complex brown ale has aromas of chocolate covered raisin and fig. Caramelized banana and roasted coco bean notes dillydally on the palate.

On tap at the brewery taproom In San Diego.
Pours deep red-brown with a good tan head that leaves patterned sticky lace on the glass.
Aroma: sweet citrus and dark fruit notes with a not entirely appealing spicy yeast.
Flavor: a bit too sweet. Hints of dark and over-ripe fruits; spicy yeast.
O: disappointing.

On tap at the Acoustic Ales tasting room. Beautiful dark brown color and smells of banana bread. The Trappist yeast mellows out the carbonation for a nice smooth feel on the tongue and still has a light body. Chocolate covered raisins and coco bean, and espresso come out throughout and make the typical Trappist yeasty taste disappear.

Beautiful red brown color in the Moinette chalice. Nice head with carbonation just right-- not too spritzy, but mouthfilling. Warm with a dark undertone. Well roasted malt and a touch of burnt sugar. Moderate fruitiness with pears and grilled peaches.
Really a nice browned barley flavor. The yeast is not so evident, but this dries out just nicely without overwhelming the malty sweetness. Smooth and quaffable but interesting enough to savor the flavors. A sensational version of the Belgian style with exemplary balance of flavors and sensations. On tap at The Public House in La Jolla.
