Aroma is dominated by soft smoke and deeply toasted malt, with hints of caramel, vanilla, and wood adding complexity. There seems to be some fruit character. Flavor is certainly on the sweet side, with a base of lightly toasted caramel malt, and a marshmallow sweetness that's accented well by the soft smoke. Tastes almost like a toasted marshmallow dipped in caramel. As it warms, notes of whiskey, vanilla, and oak take control. There's a slight underlying fruity malt character. I'm thankful for the judicious use of smoke. Hammerheart has that skill mastered.
