Poured from a 750 ml waxed bottle into a Hammerheart tulip glass.
Appearance: Pours midnight black. Moderate amount of bubbles and a slight finger of tan head that settles into a thin creamy patch.
Smell: A roasty and smokey aroma with a scent of chocolate, smoke, whiskey, and pepper. Dark roasted malt with a scent of dark chocolate, smoke, coffee, toast, biscuit, and nuts with some yeast. Good scent of hot peppers. Barrel scent of bourbon whiskey, oak, vanilla, and wood. Also some hints of burnt molasses. A really good aroma.
Taste: Like it smells a roasty and smokey dark malt driven taste with notes of chocolate, smoke, pepper, and whiskey. Dark roasted malt with notes of dark chocolate, smoke, coffee, toast, biscuit, and nuts along with yeast. Big taste of hot peppers. Barrel notes of bourbon whiskey, oak, wood, and vanilla. A little burnt sugar sweetness as well. A very nice taste.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Rich, slick, and smokey. A little hot but in a good way.
Overall: A very good Barrel Aged version of Thor's Porter. Nice mix of dark roast, smoke, pepper, and bourbon notes.

On draft at Sheffield's Chicago. Deep, rich color leaving excellent lacing. decent mouthfeel with subtle heat, very light on barrel influence, however. i would have liked to taste the rum more

Had on tap at the brewery in July. Review from notes.
Very dark brown with thin khaki head. Chocolate and oak on the nose. Faint hints of smoke and alcohol. Taste follows the nose. Big dark chocolate and roasted malt notes capped off by a moderate barrel presence. A subtle smokiness permeates the whole tasting. Finished surprisingly smooth. Medium-thick mouthfeel.

On tap the the Republic in Minneapolis.
Opaque black-brown body with a thin head that soon reduced to a ring.
This is a very strong and bold imperial porter, with well done barrel aging. There's too much smoke and char in the malts, however, for my taste. Appreciate but limited dose of hot peppers.
O: Enjoyed this more with some warming and/or adaptation.
